"...What do I want?
I could sit back and wait, prop my feet against the corners of the shell and lose myself in self-pity and depression. But what good would that do me? Would anyone think to pull an emotional corpse out of a plexiglass coffin?
I can't merely wait. I will dismantle this cumbersome shell. I will push against the plexiglass panels until they buckle. Perhaps some friend will help me by prying at the sealed edges as I lean against them..."

Suddenly It's So CLEAR!
And suddenly it is all so clear...
As I'm sitting here pondering why we all write these blogs, I'm realizing we are all looking for affirmation. Someone else to pat us on the back and tell us how special we are. We are all so self-centered. We all think someone else needs to come read OUR blog, but we really don't go looking for other peoples blogs and get all fascinated by their lives. Who are these phantom blog readers that we are all writing for?? I've actually been looking, and with few exceptions, most of our posts have no comments. Sad, but true.
So isn't this a huge life lesson? Instead of blogging our own self-centered ideas, why don't we reach out and spend that time affirming others bloggers? Just like life. Instead of waiting for others to come to us and meet our needs, why don't we reach out first to meet theirs? I'm excited. I plan to visit 5 blogs tonight and just say "hello." I'm out for an adventure....

Laugh and the World Laughs With You
Laugh, and the world laughs with you;
Weep, and you weep alone;
For this old earth must borrow its mirth,
It has trouble enough of its own.
Sing, and the hills will answer;
Sigh, and it's lost in the air;
The echoes bound to a joyful sound,
But shrink from voicing care.
Rejoice, and men will seek you;
Grieve, and they turn and go;
They want full measure of all your pleasure,
But they do not want your woe.
Be glad, and your friends are many;
Be sad, and you lose them all--
There are none to decline your nectared wine,
But alone you must drink life's gall.
Feast, and your halls are crowded;
Fast, and the world goes by.
Succeed and give, and it helps you live,
But no man can help you die.
There is room in the halls of pleasure
For a long and lordly train:
But one by one we must all file on
Through the narrow aisles of pain.

Why I'm Here
Lately all of my friends have been creating blogs. They are wonderful: cute pictures of their kids, nostaligic songs from our teenage years, details of their fast paced, fun-filled schedules, and news of the happiness that fills and surrounds their warm, satisfied lives.
When I read them I feel so much pleasure for them. I feel as if I am standing outside in the dark and gazing into their well-lit, cozy lives. It is a joy to read them, and I enjoy vouyeristically basking in their glowing successes.
In contrast, I will not be sharing my warm-fuzzy life stories. I'm here to share my spiritual growth and the life lessons I have learned. More than anything, I guess I'm here to affirm myself. I know I'm only kidding myself to think that anyone will ever read this blog. I'm mostly here to clarify for myself what my life is all about, what I'm learning and where I'm headed.
Sometimes life is hard. It seems I don't have an outlet for expressing that in every-day life.
